Last week Jamie signed me up for Klout – an online tool that helps you understand your online influence and reach through social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook. By signing up and going through some simple steps Klout will do an analysis of your social media accounts (i.e: your tweets, re-tweets, who you follow, comments posted by you or others on facebook, clicks, likes etc..) and will generate an analysis in the forms of a Klout Summary – a measurement of your overall online influence. At first I was a little skeptical (may have even rolled my eyes when Jamie first told me he signed up for this – will this really be all that helpful?) but I will totally admit that I was wrong with a capital W. All of the information that Klout generated was extremely insightful in regards to what I am currently doing on FB and Twitter and what we can do to make it even better! I would highly recommend this app to anyone who has a facebook fan page and/or twitter account for their company, brand or blog – it’s tres insightful for the world of social media! Go ahead and give Klout a try at www.klout.com then come back here and tell me what you think!

Above is an example of one of the measures Klout produces: The “Influence Matrix”. I think this is pretty cool because it shows who you are being influenced by – and also who YOU are influencing through your social media activity. As you can see RIU PR Girl is classified under the “explorer” category – over time and with some additional activity I hope to move up to some of the more active categories – sharing/creating.
By the way if you aren’t following me yet on Twitter – do so today @ The Room It Up PR Girl and also be sure to like our official Room It Up Facebook Fan Page!
