Is it just me or is Yellow popping up everywhere?  Yesterday when the new copy of Real Simple came across my desk not only did the cover feature the sunny color but inside there was a whole spread about decorating your home in the shade.  It was too cute and is what inspired today’s inspiration post.  I think we could all use a little yellow in our lives – with the sun shining more and more these days it’s hard not to be surrounded by the bright hue.  At Room It Up we also love pops of yellow – I bet you all caught the bright yellow flower featured in our best selling Bright Bloom print!  So add a little pop of yellow in your style – like one of the pieces in my Polyvore today.

…When you’re having fun… or just when you’re downright busy!  It’s been a crazy busy time here at Room It Up in our office as we are busy working on some pretty exciting things.  While I haven’t been able to post everyday on here – I wanted to let you all in on what’s been going on here the past week.  We just wrapped up our final planning for our new Back To School (I know, BTS already?!) 2010 collection and I for one just can’t wait to show you all what we have in the works.  We recently had a fun photo shoot with all of our new products and the pictures turned out awesome.  Hopefully we’ll be able to share them all with you very soon.  This weekend we will be heading up to Orlando for CAMEX 2010 – the annual College Bookstore Trade Show.  We will be taking the new collection with us and are super excited to show it off and see what our bookstore buyers think.  Heading to CAMEX yourself?  Be sure to see us at Booth #2443.  In semi-related new:  As the weather starts to warm up stores are starting to stock up (and sell out!) of some of our top selling Spring items.  The Beach Towel Sets, Coolers, Chaise Lounge Covers and Beach Totes have all been a great hit.  More substantial and exciting posts coming soon – I promise!

The temps are getting warmer and it’s time to break out our favorite color in a big way – TURQUOISE!  Here at Room It Up we have a strong love for the color.  (Hello, it’s the main color for our logo!)  We continually include the shade in our seasonal prints, our office walls are even painted a muted shade of turq – I’d say our love affair for the color is borderline obsessed.  Seeing that it’s such a popular color this year I decided to pull some inspiring items for  today’s inspiration post.  How do you incorporate turquoise in your life?

It’s no surprise that we love fashion here at Room It Up.  Watching up-and-coming designers create it before our very eyes, makes for what I think to be, excellent reality TV.  Heidi and Tim are back tonight with an all-new episode of Project Runway 7 at 10 pm/est on Lifetime.  Which is exciting as last week was a re-run.  Watch tonight (or TiVo/DVR) for tomorrow and post who your favorite designer/creation was in the comments below!  If you’re anything like me (who has religiously watched the past 6 seasons and can pretty much name most of the designers by heart) you definitely already have your favs for Bryant Park picked out.

The Inspiration: 80′s Dot Overnight Duffle

It’s Tuesday which means it’s time for this week’s outfit inspired by one of our signature, fun prints, 80′s Dot.  This print has been such a hit since the day we released it – and I for one think it has something to do with our customer’s love for everything Polka Dots (especially black/white with a surprise pink trim!)  For the outfit creation today I searched far and wide on polyvore for the perfect black and white polka dot top.  I think I found it!  See below how I accessorized said top to create a look that just screams I love the 80′s (Dot)!  By the way, don’t you just love that little floral-adorned headband?  Too cute!

Yep it’s here, the first day of March, and the light at the end of the winter tunnel is in sight!  For today’s post I have decided to highlight some (of the many) things we have to look forward to this month – in no particular order…

Spring-like weather isn’t too too far away - Now I know this all depends on where everyone is located but whether mother nature cooperates or not -spring weather can’t be too far away.  While the snow just may now turn into rain showers, at least we have (hopefully) left the massive snow drifts and zero degree weather behind

Spring Break Season! - Grab one of our towel sets and head on south, because it’s time for SB!  Even if you can’t travel to warmer temps this spring break season you can still get excited about the week-long holiday (some of us) are still able to celebrate.  Check out my earlier blog post about our love for all that is spring break here.

St. Patrick’s Day - All around the world people are celebrating the infamous St. Patrick’s Day on Wednesday March 17th this year.  Get into the mood with an understated kelly green outfit.

March Madness – Now I know that some of us are more into this than others.  However those of you who live and breathe basketball better have your brackets together soon as play starts on March 16.  Marianne in our art/creative department is a die-hard KU fan and will be singing Rock Chalk all tournament long!

Marathons are abound - Perhaps some of you are runners?  If so, possibly you are running in one of the hundreds of half and full marathons going on around the country this month.  One of the largest in the country is the Shamrock Marathon (1/2 and children’s races) in Virginia Beach March 20/21.  In fact The 38th Annual Yuengling Shamrock Marathon has been named Runner Up, as the Most Family-Friendly Marathon by Runner’s World Magazine in Jan 2010.  So it looks like running can also be fun for the whole family.  You can find one near you by visiting this handy guide.

Spring clothes/accessories are everywhere! - Celebrate spring’s impending arrival with some bright plaids and florals.  Like that cute plaid jacket pictured above from BodenUsa.  Or with some cute bright accessories from our new collections!

CAMEX 2010 – March 13-15 is the annual College Bookstore Show and this year it is in Orlando, FL which is super close to us here at Room It Up.  We have exhibited for the last 3 years and always have a fun time showing our collection to the college bookstore buyers!  We are excited to be there again this year!
